Victorian House Plan Architecture StyleThe Victorian house plan style is not really a home style, but an era dating from about 1825 to 1900. Industrialization at the time brought many architectural innovations in home design. There are a variety of Victorian styles and many homes of the era have overlapping and combined style architecture trends. The two general styles that prevailed during the period were the Italian or Renaissance style and the medieval or Queen Anne style. Exterior features of a Victorian Style House Plan include flat roof lines, angled bay windows, columned porches, corniced eaves, free-style decorations, gabled roofs, shingled insets with ornate wooden Gingerbread detail, and possibly a tower. Interiors were done as grand with smooth plastered walls in light colors, with elaborate frescoed ceilings and cornices, and elaborate door pediments. Along with marble fireplaces, heavy gold mirrors, and colorful interiors, the design exemplified the graceful, majestic splendor of the Victorian architectural period.
