Ranch Home Plan Architecture Style

Often referred to as American Ranch, Western Ranch, or California Rambler, the ranch home plan style are traditionally one-story homes. However, the architecture of Split Level ranch home plans (Raised Ranch) may have two levels of living space.

The Ranch style house plan has a Prairie house plan and Country House Plans style influence as well as evolving from Bungalow home plan, Cottage house plan and Spanish house plan styles. Features of this home style include a single story, low pitched gable roof, and deep-set eaves. Simple floor plans are characteristic with a narrow rambling layout, and a rectangular, L-shaped, or U-shaped design. Some ranch home plan style designs use natural materials such as oak floors, and wood or brick exterior, but lack decorative detailing.
