Lots of LightWith its massive pillars on stone foundations and a welcoming covered porch, this design reflects the influence of the Arts and Crafts movement. Inside, the space is expanded by 10-foot ceilings in the entry, dining room and great room, by a vaulted ceiling in the master bedroom and by nine-foot ceilings elsewhere. There are transom windows throughout the house. A column and a tray ceiling demarcate the dramatic dining room. In the great room, the transom windows flanking the fireplace let in lots of light. Close at hand are the open kitchen with a high ceiling and the dinette. Sited for privacy, the wonderful master suite contains a walk-in closet and a pampering bath with its own linen closet, a corner garden tub, a walk-in shower and his and her sinks separated by knee space. On the other side of the house, the second bath, also with a linen closet, is placed between two family bedrooms. Optional French doors could convert the front bedroom to a marvelous study.
