Sunken Living and Family Rooms

Multiple gables, arched windows and varying roof heights add interest to the exterior of this two-story dwelling. Inside, formal spaces are perfect for entertaining, while informal areas are designed for easy family living. A fireplace warms the sunken living room, which is topped by a vaulted ceiling. A coffered ceiling crowns the adjoining dining room. A skylight illuminates the islanded kitchen, while the breakfast nook opens to the rear patio via sliding glass doors. A railing divides the nook from the spacious sunken family room, which includes a second fireplace and direct access to the patio. Completing the first floor is a room off the hallway from the three-bay garage. With its built-in desk, walk-in closet and access to a full bath, the space could be either a den or a guest room. Upstairs, the master suite features a walk-in closet and a two-compartment bath with a soaking tub and a separate shower.
